Elixir of Life in miniature by ~CaroMcFW
Um…I may have bought one of these on impluse. Check another artist off my list?
I”m feeling a bit better and got the camera out to take some pictures of my complete miniatures. I did these awhile ago (Three of the little potion jars were part of 500 follower giveaway)
Here’s a better pictures of them. It was fun trying to come up with all the labels. There are lot of references to works I love—Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Elder Scrolls, Dungeon & Dragons.
I’m really happy with the staffs too. The discs are just me playing around creating stamp textures in the clay but I think they turned out kinda neat. Some will get used in the wizard tower, but I’m thinking they might make some nice jewelry too.

I think I should make something like this
So, this is the WIP of my potion making efforts. So far the results have been mixed. I’ve used Toni Ellison’s Harry Potter potion charms tutorial as a starting point. In them, she starts off using resin which would have been my first instinct too. But in latter ones, she uses clear elmer’s glue and I rejoiced because I thought “Finally an alternative to smelly resin”.
Well, it only works well for potions with no stir ins. I tried ones with glitter and glow-in-the-dark paint like she does in her videos but it all just sank to the bottom. I even let them set up a couple of days like she suggests in the comments and it still all sunk. Its not a total loss though as I can still use these bottles as filler bottles for the shelves. The glow-in-the-dark ones still glow, it just doesn’t have the same smoke in a bottle effect as hers.
Since I got a fresh supply of bottles, I think I might try doing so resin one with mix ins. Also, the ones above aren’t finished. I want to decorate the stoppers similar to the way Dark Squirrel does and put fancy labels on them too.
